App introduction
In our chemistry class, I introduced the educational app “Periodic Table Elements” for the students of class IX to make the learning of elements and their properties more interactive and engaging. The app contains several useful features such as an interactive periodic table, detailed information on each element, electronic configurations, real-world applications, 3D atomic models, trends across periods and groups, search options, and simple quizzes for practice. I began the session by explaining how digital tools can support textbook learning and then projected the app on the smartboard, demonstrating how to tap on an element to view its characteristics, how periodic trends change, and how the 3D models help visualize atomic structure. After the demonstration, students were given practical experience by opening the app on their own devices and completing a small task: exploring three elements, identifying their atomic number, group, period, and one special property. I moved around the class to guide them, helping them understand how to use the search tools and interpret the data provided. Through this activity, students became more curious and confident, and the use of the “Periodic Table Elements” app transformed a theoretical topic into a lively, hands-on learning experience.
Competition
A poster-making competition was conducted on 23rd September 2025 at High School Anthikkad, providing students with an enriching blend of creativity and technology. The event was held in the IT Lab from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, where students were introduced to the design application Canva. The features of Canva—its user-friendly interface, wide collection of templates, drag-and-drop tools, customizable fonts, colours, and graphics—helped students design posters with ease and originality. The app also enabled them to explore layers, backgrounds, and image editing options, demonstrating how digital tools can enhance visual communication. The competition not only encouraged artistic expression but also familiarized students with a practical digital platform widely used for creating posters, presentations, and social media designs.
